The vibrant blooms of ‘Luna™ Red’ Hibiscus will entice butterflies and hummingbirds. While individual hibiscus flowers last only one to two days, a continuous supply of new blossoms will keep winged visitors happy through the heat of summer. Plants tolerate the high heat and humidity of a southern summer, yet are cold hardy to zone 5. ‘Luna™ Red’ Hibiscus thrives in rich, moist soils, but is drought tolerant once established. An ideal plant for rain gardens, low-lying areas and alongside water gardens. Plant as an accent or specimen in the shrub border or cottage garden. Plants respond well to fertilizer and regular, deep irrigation. This low-maintenance beauty grows into a bushy, well-branched plant without pinching. Continuous blooming occurs without deadheading, but spent flowers can be removed as desired to maintain a tidy appearance.
