Growing with ease in any sunny, well-drained spot, ‘Sulphur Queen’ is a hybrid between the white-flowering Ismene narcissiflora and the yellow-flowering Ismene amancaes, both native to the Andes in Peru. Â
‘Sulphur Queen’ brings a distinct and exotic flair to the garden, with strappy leaves and an amazing, citrusey fragrance.Â
The blooms are the most intensely golden in the early morning, and will fade to a lovely, creamy yellow within a few hours of opening.Â
Provide well-drained soil with minimal watering during the growing season, and avoid moisture in the winter months. In zones 3-7, after the top-growth has died down, and before frost, lift the bulbs and store in a cool, dry place over winter.Â
